Left Thursday on the RT headed for Atlanta and a visit for my grandsons 1st birthday. First leg to Carmel, NY. Temp in the upper 30's so it was a good
chance to try out the new Gerbings pants and socks. Full electrics are nice and toasty. Also was first chance to use newly activated XM radio in the Zumo 550.
Problem with the Autocom, volume just too low. After spending a night with a friend, left for second leg of trip and hooked up earplugs for the XM. This worked
well for music but eliminated the microphone for the bluetooth phone hookup. Looks like I'll need some assistance with this one. Rode Friday around 500
miles to Salem VA, just south of Roanoke. Just a few spots of drizzle and hit one bad pot hole in NJ (pulled over to the right lane quickly just in case but
was okay). Good BBQ sandwich for dinner at the Memphis BBQ on RT11. Had heavy rain on the way back to the hotel . Left Saturday AM with mostly clear skys,
with temps in the 40's and anticiaped temp rising to the 50's so left off the electric pants and socks. Weather was nice for most of morning until
after a late breakfast stop just south of Bristol TN. Weather calling for sever storms with possible tornado activity going through Atlanta and points north.
After breakfast, heading towards Knoxville, went through some heavy rain but not too windy. Waited after gas stop in Knoxville for about an hour before
continuing on south. Proved to be a good call as the rest of the way, most of the bad weather had already passed to the east and other than a little rain now
and then and some stronger winds in Georgia, arrived in Acworth, just north of Atlanta to temps around 70. Just under 1100 miles. I will be leaving the RT down
hear probably until the fall. Booked one round trip flight home with a return at the end of May for a week visit and some great Georgia mountain riding.
