Can't you just send him a bus ticket or something?
Tried that already. He claims he has too much stuff to handle.

I'm waiting until Sat AM EARLY to leave...............no joy in riding in the rain and setting up camp in the rain and hanging around in the rain if I
don't have to!
See you for breakfast Saturday AM!

There was a pretty respectable turnout from the Lonesome Weirdos MC, DeadHorse MC and Yankee Beemers. We had some fun sitting around the campfire. Katfish and
Victim were on guitar and singing while the rest of us sang along with some made-up lyrics. I haven't seen the sun since last Thursday...
Who has the link to Katfish's photographs of the event? |

I'm a wimp! I admit it!
I wanted to head out to the FN on Friday, but work held me up and it was my wifes birthday so I decided to head out early Saturday AM. I woke at 4am, and was packed and on the road at 4:30. Weather was a light rain, weather forecast was calling for 60% chance of rain in southern VT and 80% CoR for Saunday AM. Not nice, but what the heck, I needed to ride. By the time I hit Taunton it was pouring real hard..........I pushed on. At the NH border I decided to stop for breakfast. I was quite comfortable on the bike, my gear and the new windscreen I just installed on the Rockster were working perfectly. It wasn't until I stood in the doorway of the diner that I realized how freaken soaking wet I was! So I ate breakfast and then did a quick assessment of the situation.I could continue on to Jamaica , set up a soggy camp, not be able to dry off my clothes and just have a swell time huddled in a lean-to and then ride home on Sunday AM in a deluge......or I could return home and tear apart the V Strom to install the electronic cruise control that has been sitting on my bench for a year and will be a nice to have on my trip to the smokies next week....... Head South Young Man rang in my head...........so i wimped out and headed home........BTW, the cruise control install came out great! Sorry to have missed the event..........Next Year!

We had a great time | #16 | ||

Despite the rain, leaving late, arriving late, my battery dying, and my compatriots ruling out a second night sleeping outside, we had a wonderful time.
Thanks to the Moto Guzzi Riders for the singing and guitar playing.. To the flutist for handing out empty nip bottles, to Lena for handing out all the marshmellows before I ate them, to John for suggesting we bring twice the beer I thought would be necessary, to Kevin for allowing his picture to be taken with the Snow Balls we made from the one meager pile of snow we found in the woods. To God for not making any MORE snow... and for stopping the rain long enough for me to overcome my mechanical emergency..... And to Jamaica State Park for putting a hill long enough to roll-start my over loaded bike, right next to my campsite.. See you all at Pemi.. -Ken (Lena and John) |
