Service Stations? |

Can anyone comment (good or bad) on the following service stations? I used to send my bike up to MAX but they are now charging for pick up and delivery. It
may be cheaper to bring it to some place closer.

Wagner prices tend to be high and there lead time is usually much longer then at MAX. MAX did a complete brake service on my bike while i waited, with one
days notice. I went across the street to grab something to eat and by the time i got back it was just about done. It's worth the ride for me and i'm
about an hour and 15 min away.
There is also Razee in Kingston RI. good prices but about a month lead time last time i checked. |

I wouldn't mind riding up to Max's if I could wait for it, but they said it would take a few weeks. Too bad they didn't have a loaner bike I could
use while I waited

Choosing Motorcycle Service Shop | #5
|
My 2 cents:
Cost of pick up/delivery is just one component to consider. Carol and I have purchased 4 bikes at MAX BMW and we live and keep bikes 45 miles away in one direction and 100 miles in the other direction. Since the actual service is superb, the shop rate per hour is quite reasonable, the dealership has expanded 100% in shop size and increased the number of technicians to provide prompt service and flexibility (at a considerable investment in capital not seen in any other exclusively-BMW Motorcycle dealership) and the surrounding area offers superb riding conditions, we find a way to work with the MAX service team to get our maintenance done there. When our 40+ year old dealership in Beverly, Freeman's, closed in 2001, we were bummed that we lost the convenience of service only 6 miles away. In fact, we don't miss it at all because riding to MAX for service is a chance to "get out of Dodge" and enjoy riding in NH and Maine (7 miles away---pick up Rt. 103 just over the bridge from Portsmouth to Kittery and ride to York if you have not already done so---spectacular!!). We have managed to turn the "inconvenience" into an opportunity to get away from the drudgery of being in the same dull job for 36 years and smell the roses. Thanks for listening! Mark PS: If you get to York on Rt. 103 and you liked it, continue north on Rt. 1A a few miles to "Shore Road" and take that to Ogunquit and stop for coffee at the Bread & Roses Bakery!

Duncan's Beemers | #6 | ||

As another option, my one experience with Duncan's in Maynard was great. He was helpful and
charged a very fair price. Don't plan on getting in and out in a hurry, though. He would stop and help existing customers when he could, which was great for them, but made the trip longer. I will be going back in the future when the job is too much for me to take on.

Wagners is literly 2.5 miles down hill from my house. When they opened up I started going there for the major stuff, they treated me right until a I had a problem with a former employee. I then started going to Max's. The work was always done right and they treated me fair. Their scheduling seemed better than other places because of the amount of mechanics they had. I ran into TJ at an event and we starting talking and one thing led to another and I started going to Wagners again. They are top notch in my book after getting me on the road again after my final drive failed 1 week before I was heading to NC for the RA rally last year. That being said there head tech busted up his ankle pretty good when he was hit by a van doing a test ride. They are down to 2 techs so you will not get an appointment anytime soon. Kurt |

I also heard that Second wind in i think manchester NH does loaners. I have a customer who uses them all the time and says there great. I don't know if
they would do a 3 week loaner but it might be worth a call.

BMW of Cambridge treated me well | #13
|
I just want to add my 2 cents worth in regards to GBM (BMW of Cambridge) in Arlington? They have worked on my 2004 R1150RT a few times. I bought it there March
of 2007. They picked up my bike twice without charge, 24K service, and a recall sensor replacement (I could have riden in for both) Rachael, the Service Mgr.
offered the pick-ups as a convenience to me. The other service I had, she gave me a F650 loaner for the day (no charge) It was fun to try something different.
I just want to say that they treat me well, they seem to do good work on my RT, and they get me in quickly.

The Tire Nazi put on a new set of tires for me. Thank for recommending him ... I didn't have to pay for pick up or delivery or wait for weeks to get my
bike in. He put them on in a few days after I called him and while I waited!
Thanks, Dave |
