I am planning to hit St Louis on Fri (11) pm. Then Sioux City via a couple stops on Sat p. Then through the Badlands to Spearfish on Sun. Tour a few days then
Wed head N to ND and Montana to show up in Gillette on Thurs afternoon. Maybe Yellowstone and TOR on the way home. Plans of mice and man but we'll see. I
am pretty sure I will have enough camping this trip for the rest of the year.

Fred and I got as far as Mattawa, ON Saturday after an early AM launch. We hunkered down just as a storm cell hit that had just passed
North Bay and caused blackouts.

We busted chops today and made Mitchell, SD. We are starting to see other beemers, and there was a Dakar yellow K75S parked out front
just like my old one (Sob! Sniff!) when we arrived. MurielF e-mailed that she was already at the Black Hills last evening.

We found Don LaP at the dealer in Sturgis, he reported a CapeCodBeemer sighting on the road, I guess Sandy recognized the K-raig rig and
pulled up alongside on the highway to wave.
BlackFly Fred and I were in Sundance, WY last night and on to Gillette for Thursday. LOTS of beemers in the area now!

Second place club award for the YB! | #28 | ||
|
Well, we had enough critical mass to come in second for that award for the longest distance based on 5 members in attendance multiplied by
the mileage to the club official address. The scalawags of the Antigonish Touring Society out of Nova Scotia beat us out for first (again.)
Fred Kolack was good enough to take the point on gathering YB signatures, this year's awards and tallies rules put the onus on clubs to submit numbers rather than having members sign in individually. Bill Eppley made a lovely presentation of the Garth restoration bike and made a point to say that Garth was a Yankee Beemer (even ahead of saying he was an MOA member....) It was won by Bob Henig of Bob's BMW and will doubtless have a good home. We're in Cody, WY after storming Beartooth Pass this afternoon, LOTS of BMWs working the twisties today. Next, more Continental Divide and on to Paonia.

As a group we headed to the Badlands the 3 trailer queens and myself. Followed the road less taken to the back entrance for some WFO riding. The first back
door was miles of gravel. Considering most had already rode our yearly alotment we took a break before riding on to the paved entrance.

We headed over to the badlands on Monday- stopped for gas and some H20
The Badlands are exactly that- reminded me of the old Clint Eastwood movie when they left him to hang in the middle of the desert. Hell we were riding on
motorcycles with water and were still parched after only a few hours.

Hey Sandy, can you send me individual JPEGs of those state signs? It's something I always wanted to do and never seem to have the camera ready at the
right time.

"Ten Sleeps"
BTW, I was just reading an article about Native Americans. It suggested that they never understood the concept of counting. They knew one, two and many. And rarely used the "two"...............One and Many was all they needed to survive. The whites brought the concept of counting to the plains. And although the Greeks and Egyptians had the "wheel" thousands of years before, the Native Americans never had use or understanding of this device until the whites arrived. I found this interesting..................
