If we can't keep this web site even a little bit current, we should simply shut it down. I'm trying to get folks to attend these rallies and there is all kinds of mis information on the web site I direct them to.

It states that the Frosty Nuts AND the Wacky Hat are both at Jamaica State Park.................On an entirely other page, it says the location of WH has been
changed and links you back to the page claiming both are at Jamaica..........

Hello Roy,
As for the WH gathering, go to the events part of the YB message board and I have posted some correct information about the new location and venue facilities and ammenities. It is a super location, I just hope more than a couple of YB ever find about about it in time. Maybe even more than two or three will actually show up. Friedle |

I'll be there..........Weather will be freak'n perfect! I want to see that areodrome since I've not been able to make the "airheads at
the...." event. I want a biplane ride if possible.....
I did see your update. But if you click on the actual event dates in the calender, it takes you back to the old post from John Berry............And his link is on top and bigger. Most folks will click here and miss your link. It's about a 4 second fix..........

Hey All,
the web master should be elbows deep in diapers about now..anyone got an update on the latest YB? He and I did start some work on new bits for the web page...perhaps if he could share the reins, we could get some more updates. we were working on the front page a bit, new header, new lay out, adding some new features and what not, then he got side tracked by the new Yuku board and with the baby coming..well, you get the picture. Perhaps in the fall/winter we'll get the complete redesign out.... Anyone got any ideas on what they want to see on the web page? Heres what's been tossed about so far: new header, better links, change the organization aroudn a bit. New style calendar that will drill down to better specifics for events. PDF teasers of the Boxer Shorts, PERHAPS......a secure area to read all Boxer Shorts....PERHAPS...lets not get on that thread again..... a place to upload GPS routes, download gps routes, heck we could even have a place for route planning for shared rides a 'la ADV sites... picture/movie sharing.... Anything else? oh blue book online (secured area), maybe even ANNonymous online (would take some work)... Links to favorites, area to nominate the best of..tires, diners, dealers, Farklizers (although i think roy would own this category)...a place to note 'how to's.....ie wire up an acc fuse box..add lights... well you get the idea..it only takes time and effort...but it is riding season, and both are precious commodities... I've said it before, i'll say it again.....i can do some of this, not all....and do have some time in the evening when i can get to this...it this is what the club decides.... I'll be at the WH...didn't know about the local aerodrome...definitly worth checking out.. thx V'

I know that I have thrown a few bombs in the past. This time I won't.
I like the existing page. It just should be kept current. That is all. Sometimes a new fancy web site means more work. Why do that to whoever is maintaining the site? Just keep it current. Thank you for listening. |

YEs, the wisdom of the grawun should be heeded...
i seriously doubt the traffic for the web page warrants a complete re-work..but it's kinda like adding another farkle to the scoot...ya can't stop at just wun.... I'd be happy to make the updates a weekly occurance...that should be soon enough for the majority... Bruze/Larry/et. Al...you listening....I know brian is quite busy..I'll try to ping him off line for an update.. thx V'

I like the existing page. It just should be kept current.I agree.......Where, What and When..............With accuracy. A "how to" area would be nice, but there are plenty of BMW specific sites to post same On line anonymous / Blue Book list is a great idea............but with security feature. "KISS" works for me.............. thanks

Might not the addition of a "Letters to the Editor" (of the Boxer Shorts) link find some usage? More than once I have wanted to make some comment on
the contents of a particular issue but found no appropriate medium other than a personal note to the contributor. Any consideration of this suggestion should
involve input from Victor and Dana, the guys who keep the Shorts running. John Murray

HI Ya Pally... it might be considered, but there really is a better way..and i think you've just did it. You can always start a new thread entitled "letters to the editor"... as tradition holds, the editor of any publication has the right to withhold or publish any correspondance. If you were to make a public comment on a published feature that is positive, i see no reason not to include it in this forum for further encouragement/discussion. If someone were to make a negative comment, that could be tolerated in this same format, so long as it is written with the intent of constructive critique, not a poisoned pen letter. In either event, if one of the YB's desired to make a statement that could be considered 'too colorful' for a public format, then yes, as
you've stated earlier, a personal message is in order.

John, If you want to write to the editor of the shorts, just send him an email directly. He can then decide if it's worthy of putting into the next
issue. Knowing your history, my guess is you'll get the front page any time you want.

Roy, I have done the biplane ride, and I recommend it....I have pics but they are the old fashion kind and do not have a scanner. You land coming in
sideways, then straighten out at the last second. AWESOME. Last did it at the MOA rally in NY!

Dear Viking (and Ain't),
Your suggestion about using a thread on this board for "letters to the Editor" makes a great deal of sense; I will employ it in future . . . simple enough. Regarding Ain'ts observation, I believe many of my past private notes to Victor and Dana have been congratulatory for the fine over-all quality of particular issues and of their part in contributing to that success. Victor is too modest to place these kinds of comments in the Shorts. With respect to my sailing, I have done little recently, and I must leave it up to that "Gentleman Biker and Attorney" to attend to the lashing of the troops as he overlooks their efforts from the comfort of either a poop deck or from a silken tent perched on a bluff - far removed from the tulmult raging below. I look forward to seeing all at both the Green Mountain Rally and Wacky Hat. In between those events I plan another trip south before cooler weather sets in. John M. |

Hey Roy,
I don't have any picture of the week submissions to post! Bruce just sent me the current one in response to your post here, but I can't post pictures I don't have. Also when you find errors on the site, it's more productive to email me then complain to the world. That's why there's a message to send "submissions or corrections" to webmaster@yankeebeemers.org at the bottom of most pages. I haven't been reading the message board often, but do read my email. I'm a geek, I'm not great at producing content, so I rely on what I get emailed. |
