With the Euro so high against the dollar this year, riding Europe is out of the question. It's time we see the canyons and high mountain deserts of America. I've found roads in NM and AZ every bit as challenging and scenic as roads in Europe. Plus, there's no Grand Canyon in Europe, or cliff dwellings, or ghost towns, or vortexes or 30-foot cacti, or authentic Mexican grub!
I'm extending a personal invitation to join me and my wife Vicky on an unforgettable trip to New Mexico, AZ, and the Grand Canyon, October 3-11, 2008, for 7 days of incredible riding in weather that is sunny and dry every day.
I've arranged a package that includes BMW rentals of either a R1200 GS, R1200 RT or K1200 LT, and 8-nights of hotel stays with breakfast.
Southwest offers direct non-stop to Phoenix from Providence and Manchester. I've seen fares for $142, (Return $159), non-stop, if you buy them early ("Wanna Get Away" online buys). JetBlue also flies from Boston. October flights are not on sale yet.
Some of this trip was covered in the December issue of the Shorts (the New Mexico half; not the Arizona half).

Arizona Highlights:
Cost:
Depends on what people want to do. We can go cheap by selecting low-cost but clean establishments; and doing all
meals out-of-pocket. In short, we skip the 'package' concept. This will bring the price down a lot. I need to hear from you. What is 7 days of riding
rainless through canyons, mesas, high desert, and mountains worth to you?
Whatever we do, staying here is a must for two nights: Bear Mountain Lodge.
