Great ride to Goulds today |

Thanks for leading today Bob. I can't wait to get back out on those roads again once the sand is gone. Great roads and almost no traffic. I got a little
wet on my way out to the meeting place, but after that the weather was great.

Brian, As you saw, the sandy roads are part of the deal in snow country. I did notice that my ride home (arrival at 8pm) seemed much less sandy. (Probably
just as well that it was dark so I couldn't see what I was riding on
.) Anyway, it goes away quickly with spring rain and road crew sweeping. A couple of weeks and we can wick it up without worry.
By the way, the n00b reference in the other thread was not about riding ability. Just about the history of the Goulds ride and concept of doing the Goulds ride at all cost - in all weather. It's a tradition that is learned in the doing. I bet you feel better for it today
Like your bike :thumbsup |

That was a really fun ride. The pace was great and the choice of roads excellent. I've long considered a cold ride to a sugar house to be a season opener
for me, see my March 10th blog post about it.
So, it was fun and interesting to see the same was true for others. Thanks for letting a Suzuki roll with you, thanks for putting the ride on. Adam |

I wanted to chime-in about yesterdays ride to Goulds. I was very fortunate to meet with the GraWun, and Pallysquirt for the ride out to the Sugar House. The ride back to Acton, following Tim on some great twisty backroads, was a perfect way to finish the days ride. (that Rotax powered MZ, was impressive in its element) Thanks for a great introduction to the group, and I look forward to meeting more YBs in the future.. Good day, eh... Shawn |

Should I stay or should I go now??? | #4 | |||||||

Good ride, great day.
Being a YB newbe I'm not as tuned in as I should be. I got up yesterday morning and onto the laptop at about 7:30 to review the weekends events and see whats was up with the "Sunday" ride to Goulds. After reading through all the scarry weather talk, much to my chagrin, I realised the Sunday ride to Goulds was today, Saturday, now! I hemmed and hawed for an hour. It's raining pretty good., "it was to late to go", "it's pouring", "the bike is in the shed". It's still raining. It's 43 degrees. I'll never make it by 11:00. I flipped on weather channel, it's even raining there! First real ride this year, 200 miles round trip in the rain, I don't know if it's worth it! It's still raining, I blew it, "I should have looked at this last night", none of my stuff is ready, I should have known the ride was today, it's still raining. I'm thinking of the comments I had read in the threads on the discussion board about the weather that morning. Their gonna think I'm a wimp and I don't care. I"ve only made one meeting.......all this stuff was running through my head along with the words to the song..."should I stay or should I go now?" So I said "screw it", go now. Pulled on my Cortech's, pulled on my boots, pulled the bike from the shed, pulled nesting nice from under the seat and hit the road at 8:45, it's still raining and did so for the next 25 miles and then road spray for the following 25 miles, somewhere north of the Quabbin the wet let up, somewhere around 91 the sun peeked through. I get there at exactly 10:59 to see four beemers, one guy in a pickup waving me to the back of the lot and another couple emerging from an SUV with the guy wearing wearing a YB ball cap. This is it? I sweat missing this? This is the die-hard group? Then ten minutes later, over the hill came the swarm of Beemers along with a few other denominations, the ride was on! Good time, good food, good people. Lots of new faces and names and I apologize for not remembering them. And a great ride home at a snappy pace, I'm glad I went now. |

Bob i did about 150 miles in the Vanilla Bean area today. The twistys down that way are great and sand free. I guess western Mass is a few weeks behind.
