Does anyone know when the 500 mile ride is going to occur that starts at Wagner BMW? Thanks!!

I put this event on last year and I am willing to do it again, if there is sufficient interest. Last year we offered a shorter route, and NO ONE did the 350
mile or so route. If the YBs want this event, I will pick a date, plan the route, get the sponsors swag, etc., get TJ to host again, etc. etc. Please post
here if you are interested in doing the TIN BUTT.

I'm very interested. As long as i don't have a previous commitment on the date you choose, i plan to do it. Sunday is usually better for me.

I will talk to TJ at Wagner about serving as the base of operations. Brian, sorry but that means a Saturday event because like every bike shop I know they are
closed on Sunday. However I am sure they will provide coffee, donuts, etc. in the morning and feed us upon a return. This year's event is gonna be much
more like a mini Minuteman 1000 with lots of bonus locations and remove entirely the finish order from scoring.

Tin Butt seems like a good intro into the "distance riding" phenom. I have been reading the posts, and considering the Minute Man 1000 next year,
butt I would like to try a Tin Butt 500, 1st. Count me in...

My longest day so far is just over 500 , so a 500 miler plus rt to worcester would be like 650 for me

Sunday is better, but that doesn't mean i'm out just because it's on a Sat. there's still a good chance i would be able to do it.

But would like more ride/rules detail. 500 miles ...how many hours? How is it documented? Any other qualifiing details / advice would be apreciated. I've
done over 400 miles several times but with the intent of getting home or making up time, not just for the sake of doing it.

The ride is a 500 mile loop. You are required to stop at 3 locations, and there will be many more bonus locations to make the event competitive. At bonus
locations you will have to find a locale and answer a question in the rally book. There are also bonus points for keeping a fuel log, etc. Start at 6:00 a.m.
and must be back a 6:00 p.m. and have logged at least 500 miles per odo check.

I'd love to ride the Tin Butt, the format sounds great, and it would be my longest ride of the year. I work every other weekend but would probably ask
someone to cover my shift if the ride date is a work day. I live about 5m from Wagner's.
500 miles...I can hear the K75RT snorting in the shed already. Down boy! |

All: sorry for the delay but as you know TJ is no longer there and the new manager has been away on vacation and is returning Tuesday August 19th. Given the
timing I don't think we can give enough advance notice for a date in August. So, I am now looking for a good day in September. September 20th looks good.
What do the interested riders think????

Finally got to speak with the new manager at Wagner - Jay Hassett. We are confirmed for the Tin Butt to be hosted by Wagner again and we will start out at
6:00 a.m. on Saturday September 20th. Jay says this is a considerable expense for the dealership for a small group so he is expecting us to push for a larger
participation. Please anyone who is committed to doing this ride please let me know so I can supply numbers to Jay. Wagner is going to provide coffee and
donuts to see us off, and burgers and dogs when we return. Expect gift certificates from all the area BMW dealers.
